Today, Riot Games, the studio behind League of Legends, announced that it is working on its first release since League of Legends.
Valorant, formerly known as “Project A” is a character-based tactical shooter as they explain in this video posted on Twitter:

They also mention that they are in it for years, implying that they will focus on releasing continues updates instead of sequels. Interestingly, they also mention how important it is for them to solve the rights problems like server tick rate, low ping, peakers advantage, global infrastructure and the fight against cheaters with anti-cheating tools.
Therefore, it seems that Riot Games is developing a game cartered to competitive players. Professional and competitive CS:GO players have for years called for higher tick rates and fewer cheaters in CS:GO, so it seems that Riot Games are trying to get a share of the competitive FPS market.
All in all, very interesting news from Riot Games and we can’t wait to hear more about this new game.
